SPM Mathematics Exam-Day Checklist
What to bring, how to start, and how to spend the last ten minutes. A calm, prepared start is worth several marks on its own.
Before and during
Bring A non-programmable scientific calculator is allowed; geometry tools are also allowed in Paper 2. Read every question before you start Paper 2 and tackle the ones you are surest of first.
Leave the last ten minutes to check units, signs and that you answered exactly what was asked.

What must I bring into the SPM Maths exam hall?
Bring your identity card, exam slip, and a non-programmable scientific calculator, since a calculator is allowed for this subject. Pack a ruler, pencil, and geometry tools (compass, protractor, set square) as well, since Paper 2 allows their use for diagrams and constructions, arrive early enough to find your seat and settle before the paper starts.
What should I check before I start answering any question?
Check that your answer script has your name and IC number filled in correctly, and skim through the whole paper first so you know how many questions there are and roughly how long each part should take. Confirm your calculator is working and note which questions look most familiar, so you can start with those and build momentum before tackling harder ones.
What should I do in the last ten minutes of each paper?
Stop attempting new working and go back over questions you flagged or left blank, since a reasonable guess or partial working beats an empty answer. Check that every question has some response, that your name and index number are on the script, and that any diagrams or graphs are labelled, small checks like these recover marks that content revision alone cannot.
