Quadratic Equation Solver
Enter a, b and c to find the roots, the discriminant and the steps of ax² + bx + c = 0.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Quadratic Equation Solver do?
Enter the coefficients a, b and c of ax² + bx + c = 0 and it finds the roots using the quadratic formula, showing the discriminant and whether the roots are real, equal or non-real. It is built for the KSSM Form 4 quadratic equations topic, so you can check answers quickly while practising.
How do I read the solver's result, such as the discriminant value?
The discriminant b² − 4ac tells you the type of roots: positive gives two different real roots, zero gives two equal real roots, negative gives no real roots. The solver shows this value alongside the roots so you understand why the answer looks the way it does, not just the final numbers.
Can I use the solver's answer directly in the SPM exam?
No. The solver checks your final answer, but 1449/2 markers award steps for substituting into the formula, simplifying the discriminant and simplifying surds correctly.
Always work the question out by hand first and use the tool only to confirm your answer, not to replace the written working examiners expect.
